A few weekends ago, I went to Yamanaka Onsen to do a little hiking. It was a lightly rainy day and the temperature was perfect for a long walk. Kakusenkei Gorge was absolutely beautiful and looked like it was taken right out of a fairytale.
When I lived in Germany, I enjoyed going for walks in their picturesque forests and the area around the Gorge reminded me of all my lovely adventures.
I made sure to visit all three bridges in the gorge; Ayatori bridge, Kohrogi bridge, and Kurotani bridge. They all had amazing views of the river!
Due to the rain, I was unable to have sweets by the river, but I went to a quaint café that had delicious beef stew, tasty “forest cake”, and piping hot tea. I believe “forest cake” was their own invention. It’s a cake with nuts and dry fruit.
Before I went home, I stopped by Kiku-No-Yu’s foot bath to relax my weary feet.
