I enjoy going to art galleries and when I arrived in Kanazawa, a few people recommended I visit a very interesting, very special gallery of art made completely with natural items, like fruit or flowers.
Himito is a gallery near Katamachi and the Sai River. The artist truly showcases a “mottainai” spirit. All of her art is beautiful and she does not waste any parts of the fruit she uses! The atmosphere of the gallery is enchanting and “from another world”. I have never been to a gallery quite like it! She even has an “all you can drink” tea area, BUT, the tea is a little strange! The tea has interesting names, like “Mermaid’s Tears” and “First Kiss” and they try to taste like these concepts. Some of the tea is delicious and some of it is terrible (or even painful)! I think it is very fun experience!
The artist is very inspirational, because she does not sell her art, but takes donations, so she can run an art camp for children.
