A few weekends ago, I decided to go to Kanazawa and try on kimono. The rental store that I visited had thousands of kimono to choose from. The styles offered ranged from traditional prints to graphic, modern designs. I opted for a traditional print in a deep blackish-blue with small pink and purple flowers clustered on the fabric . I was unsure how to coordinate my obi and accessories, so an assistant at the rental shop helped me greatly. I think we created a simple, yet beautiful look.
After being dressed by other shop staff, I took a slow walk around Kenrokuken. Afterwards,I had tea and wagashi in the Kazue-machi Chaya district. Kanazawa’s autumn colors were very lovely.
While it was a little challenging to walk in kimono, I really enjoyed the experience.
How often do you wear kimono?
