英語部では、１０月３１日のハロウィンのイベントに向けて、“pumpkin contest” (かぼちゃの重さ当てコンテスト）を企画し、生徒玄関の正面にかぼちゃなどの飾り付けをしました。

　かぼちゃ３つの重さの合計を予想して投票してもらい、正解に近い生徒上位４名にはお菓子をプレゼントする予定です。

　ちなみに、ハロウィンは、本校のALT（外国語指導助手）であるマイケル・マーター先生の母国アイルランド、古代ケルトの大晦日（10／31）に行われる収穫祭が起源と言われており、二千年以上も歴史があるお祭りだそうです。

Halloween was started in Britain and Ireland by the Celtic people.

They believed that evil spirits came to visit on that night. So they dressed in costumes to hide from the evil spirits.

Nowadays, people don’t believe this but, they still like to continue the tradition of dressing in costumes.

We also celebrate with fireworks displays and bonfire.
