Otani JHS’s Chinese Lunch Menu:
Today’s lunch menu was surprisingly delicious. The students from the 1st and 2nd years worked together to create an authentic Chinese Menu which I and many others enjoyed. On the menu was Fried Rice, Gyoza, Egg Soup and Milk Jelly.
Fried Rice: The fried rice contained many of the natural ingredients often found in fried rice: soy sauce, white rice, green onions, eggs and a few others not often found: green peppers (ピマン) and pickled ginger. For me, every bite that had pickled ginger was a surprise that I looked forward to having and I enjoyed eating every bite.
Gyoza: Eating gyoza is always enjoyable, but watching it being made before you eat it is also fun. Seeing the students take the wrapping, stuffing inside the delicious insides and then sealing the gyoza was fun, but I anticipated eating the gyoza once they had been fried. When I bit into them, I could taste the delicious filling inside the gyoza. It didn’t take me long to devour the rest of them.
Egg and Green Onion Soup: Today’s soup was very similar to the rest of the meal; it was perfect. The soup, while not steaming hot, was warm enough for me to enjoy in between bites of fried rice. It went down perfectly and was very delicious.
